Christ Will Return
1872, 1874, 1878,1910, 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975,1984, 1996, 2000
What do the years listed above have in common? They are just a few of the years when it has been pronounced that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ would return. Each time the guess has been wrong. Mankind will always be wrong when it comes to declaring the return of Jesus Christ. When anyone informs the world that he or she has suddenly discovered the time of the Lord's second coming, they immediately reveal themselves as a false prophet.
Matthew 24:36 - But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
2 Pet. 3:10 - But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
We do know that Jesus will come again:
John 14:1-2 - In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
We don't know when, but knowing that He will come again, we should ask ourselves, what is going to happen when time ends?
I Thessalonians 4:13-17 - But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…and so we shall always be with the Lord…
Paul speaks of the dead being raised then the living being caught up in the air. This happens at the end of time.
I Corinthians 15:51-55- Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. “O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Everyone will know the truth of Jesus:
Philippians 2:10-11 says, "Every knee is going to bow, every tongue is going to confess."
A great separation is going to take place. From Matthew 25, beginning at verse 31:
Matt. 25:31-33 - But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.
After that separation, will be a great judgment scene.
Matt. 25:34; 41 - Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels...
Rev. 20:12 - And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
And after that separation and after that great judgment, the destruction of this earth. This earth is not going to continue for another 1,000 years. Jesus is not coming to set up a kingdom; he's going to deliver the kingdom that is already his (the church) to the Father after the judgment.
The Second Coming was never intended to strike fear in our hearts, but to provide us a moment to look forward to:
I Thessalonians 4:17-18 - …and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
There is great comfort in these words if your are in Christ. The Second Coming will be the greatest event in the History of the World.
Are you ready?
