Bill O'Reilly's Blasphemous Book
The definition given for blasphemy is easy to understand:
· great disrespect shown to God or to something holy
· something said or done that is disrespectful to God or to something holy
· the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God
· the act of claiming the attributes of deity
· irreverence toward something considered sacred or inviolable
Bill O’Reilly, with his latest book “Killing Jesus”, takes blasphemy to a pathetic depth. But this is not his first trek down this road. In November 2012, Mr. O’Reilly stated his belief the, “Those Who Think Christianity Is A Religion Are "So Stupid It's Painful" -- "Christianity Is A Philosophy.” “Luckily” for us he recounted that statement a week later by admitting, “It's a religion but it's a philosophy that is being... administered by different religions.” Sorry Bill but you need to read your Bible. I know the Holy Word doesn’t mean much to those who advocate Catholicism (which is NOT Christianity; see the falling away referenced in 2 Thes. 2:1-12), but Christians do take the Word of God literally. We believe the following scriptures, literally:
False doctrine is exactly what his book espouses. I will not spend much more time on Mr. O’Reilly’s book but I will point out one infuriating “fact” he promotes. In Luke 23:34, we are told Jesus said, while hanging on the cross, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Mr. O’Reilly says, “he doesn't believe it happened while Jesus was on the cross. You couldn't say something like that audibly that people would hear. You die on a cross from being suffocated … you can hardly breathe,” he said. “We believe Jesus said that, but we don’t believe he said it on the cross.” Mr. O’Reilly’s arrogance equals that of the chief priests and the Pharisees.
Though Mr. O’Reilly chose not to admit it in his book, Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. And while he was man, you cannot say ANYTHING is outside the realm for Him to accomplish. He did what he planned to do. The Jews’ rejection, resulting in his crucifixion, was “according to the divine plan and foreknowledge of God” (Acts 2:23).
It would be nice if Mr. O’Reilly’s pride would take a vacation and he could learn to be more like our Saviour…“Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient [even] unto death, yea, the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:5-8).

- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - "Every scripture inspired of God [is] also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work." Every scripture includes both the Old and New Testament. All scripture is inspired. Inspired of God means it is God breathed. Inspiration means that the Holy Spirit guided men as they wrote God's truth. He allowed them to use their own personality, but the Holy Spirit guided them to write the truths which God wanted revealed to man. The Holy Spirit protected them from writing any error. The sixty-six books of the Bible are the only inspired books from God. This doesn’t include “Killing Jesus” even though you believe the Holy Spirit “moved you to write the book.”
- Jude 3 - "Beloved, while I was giving all diligence to write unto you of our common salvation, I was constrained to write unto you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints." Common salvation means the hope in Christ, which both Jews and Gentiles have in Christ Jesus. Jude wrote to them to defend the truths they believed. The faith refers to the things believed. Therefore, the faith refers to the body of truth, which was given to the Christians through the apostles and inspired writers (1 Peter 1:12; Acts 6:7; 13:8; Ephesians 4:5; 1 Timothy 4:1). Which was once for all delivered means God’s truth has been completely revealed. They must not add to the truth or take away from the truth received (Galatians 1:8-9; Revelation 22:18-19). The truth has been delivered and it will not change. How dare Bill O’Reilly, or anyone for that matter, believe they are God’s modern day messenger with a false doctrine not keeping with the Holy Word.
- Rom. 16:17 - "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them that are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which ye learned: and turn away from them."
- 1 Tim. 6:3-5 - "If any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, wranglings of men corrupted in mind and bereft of the truth, supposing that godliness is a way of gain."
