It's Really That Simple-- Preach Christ And Him Crucified
It is the kind of e-mail that, without question, gives you pause and makes you realize the wonders of God's Word. It is the type of e-mail that makes you want to drop to your knees in prayer thanking Him for the wonderful simplicity of the path He has provided for us to come back to Him. It is the kind of e-mail that makes you want to shout from the rooftop that GOD IS REAL and working, through His Word, in the lives of people who want to submit to Him on His terms.
I want to share with you this wonderful e-mail:
"Hi Chuck, I hope your doing well. Again thank you for your lessons that you prepare for us. Recently, me and my wife and kids have since started worshipping with the church of Christ. This Sunday, I will have the privilege to baptize my wife and twin step daughters. You see, some time back I was asked by my daughters what I beieve. It was difficult at first but I just preached Christ to them- void of what denominations teach. What's amazing is after I preached Christ, they responded with "I want to be baptized". Just like the Eunich, and countless other stories of conversion in the Bible. My wife was baptized in the Lutheran church, by means of sprinkling, as a youth. I explained to her that we need to be baptized, by immersion in water, which adds you to the body of Christ, thus puts you in Christ. After 7 years of being married, she has finally accepted the fact that we need to be baptized. So life is good, I'm excited and am glad that I, like the prodigal son, have come home. Take care, in Christ."
2 Timothy 4:1-4 - I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables. But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry.
Matthew 28-19-20 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
The direction from our Lord is clear; the effects are eternal.
Hebrews 4:12-16 - For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Having then a great high priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help [us] in time of need.
I ask you to keep this family in your prayers as they begin this new journey. Preaching Christ Crucified from God's Word; these are the only Words with the power to make a difference in your life.
